Bruno Mars brought along his living room set to American Idol last night, except, he wasn’t actually there. Despite the performance being pre-taped a month ago on March 31st, he sure did make up for his lack of Idol presence. There were dogs, sofas and a 17-man live band that had more swag than you could recall. The critically acclaimed musician showed off his catchy style of shades and trademark fedora hat while performing his ska-tinged new single ‘The Lazy Song’ from his platinum-certified debut album ‘Doo Wops & Hooligans’.

Mars delivered what you could call a warm, funky and fun rendition of the song with the horns, bongos and his consistently butter-smooth flow. The track is not as radio friendly as previous singles and it falls short of being a typical easy reggae song derived from the eighties. However, he sold himself with the performance making that particular track just that much more likable. ‘The Lazy Song’ is currently #3 in the UK midweeks. Could the chart king be looking at his third UK number one?
