Leona Lewis on Lady Gaga: “I’m all about the music & songs”…

Many people have berated Lady Gaga for being a gimmicky type of act. And while Leona Lewis says Gaga is great, her main focus lies solely on her musical creativity. The 26-year-old also defends herself against criticism that she’s considered a boring artist.

“I don’t care what anyone says. I’m not boring” she asserts defiantly “Unless you know me, I don’t really care about your opinions. I couldn’t care less. Lady Gaga does her crazy thing and she is great. I definitely have something different to offer. I’m all about the music and songs. But I have just as many wigs as Gaga and the next girl. I love playing with fashion too. I love changing my style. I designed a lot of my outfits during Grammy week. People are always going to say stuff – someone’s gold is another man’s sh*t. I felt comfortable. It was very pop and vibrant”. Source.

New Video: Rihanna – ‘Man Down’…

Rihanna turns murderess in her new music video for latest single ‘Man Down’. Sometimes when a random man forces himself on a woman, emotions run high and the one thing a woman craves for is revenge. Rather than have the guy she met at the club face the jury in court for his despicable actions, she takes his life by pulling the trigger. The storyline was very powerful.

The Anthony Mandler directed clip was shot in Portland, Jamaica. Therefore, the reggae cut was really cohesive with the Island scenery and overall song concept. On that note, great acting from Rihanna. Check out the action below.

New Song: Sugababes – ‘Freedom’ (Snippet)…

The Sugababes have debuted a snippet today of their brand new single ‘Freedom’. The track, which is featured on the latest Nokia advert, sees Amelle Berrabah, Heidi Range and Jade Ewen reverting back to the Sugababes sound (something they rejected on their floptastic precedessor ‘Sweet 7′).

‘Freedom’ features Ewen showcasing those intricate vocal trills over the dirty dubstep electro beat. A little generic but at the same time, still infectiously catchy. Listen to the snippet below…

Amy Winehouse album completed, but now delayed…

Just when you thought Amy Winehouse was finally back on track with her music comeback, a major setback takes place. The 27-year-old checked herself back into rehab last week, but the new album is said to be complete. However, they have had to push back the album’s release date until the singer completes her treatment.

A source reveals: “She has finally finished the album and it’s ready to go. They [Island Records] were just about to finalise a release date and then this happened. She is back in rehab for the foreseeable future so it is just a question of waiting and seeing now. But there is no way they can give a specific release date until they know when she is likely to be out”. Source.

Another day. Another promotional interview for pop songstress Christina Aguilera. The 30-year-old visited Live With Regis & Kelly yesterday to discuss her reality show ‘The Voice’ and it’s massive success. She then went on to talk about what we can expect from her upcoming new album and says she likes to take breaks in between albums because it gives her more time to reflect on her experiences and what she’s been through.

Whoever has been advising Aguilera on how to present herself in interviews deserves a Gold medal. Personally, I prefer her bitchy persona because deep down I feel that was the REAL her. However, having the likability factor is also a pivotal process in sustaining a successful career as well as the talent (and she has hordes of it). Congrats to her. And congrats to her publicist for changing things around. It really has worked in her favour.

It’s Kelly Rowland‘s time to shine! Prior to her confirmed judging gig on the UK’s X Factor this week, the 30-year-old has posed it up in a Naomi Campbell style photoshoot for the UK’s Wonderland magazine. With Rowland finding success in her own American music market, it will be interesting to see how she juggles the two roles between high profile judge to a now demanding solo artist.

It seems almost impossible, but if she wants her success to contineously flow, she will need to find a way to make it work. For we have yet to get a single TV performance from her this year and at this point, one is very much overdue.

Jennifer Hudson to Bossip: “F*ck You!”…

A fuming Jennifer Hudson is demanding an apology from gossip blog Bossip after they posted an article about her struggle to land a book deal about her weight loss. They alleged that publishing agents are more interested in the 2008 slaughters of her family members than her new weight loss. The 29-year-old has been pitching the book to U.S. publishers for a reported $1 million. However, certain editors have claimed that publishing agents are reportedly hesitant to offer a deal without details of the tragic murders. This has infuriated the singer provoking her to plunge into an f-bomb curse fest on twitter. “Some things are priceless. How low can people go? I just don’t get it. Stop making up sh*t!!! Everyday I wake up I’m constantly reminded how cruel and heartless the world is. Bossip, you owe me an apology! Why would you take someone’s tragedy and build a story of nothing but lies around it? F*ck you!!!!” she wrote (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

As horrible as it is, the allegations hold some serious truth. A publisher is going to want all the controversial parts of her life in the book because they feel this is what will sell it. That is practically their job. If they are going to agree to a $1 million deal, they want an uncensored book from her. It doesn’t make it right but that’s just how the ruthless publishing industry works.

X Factor USA judge Simon Cowell has kept himself out of the public eye since the shock axing of Cheryl Cole. Tonight on Britain’s Got Talent, Mr Nasty made his very first public appearance live on ITV. His first public appearance coincidently comes the very same day ITV announced the official line-up for his UK show ‘The X Factor’.

Although the controversial judge has been making week-long headlines for all the wrong reasons, he made a dramatic entrance on the popular talent search. As he made his way to the panel, the self-indulgent judge had the Superman theme playing during his entrance. He may be a lot of things but with his poor judgement as late, a superman he certainly isn’t.

A lot of people are not really familiar with new X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos. Her credibility has been questioned because some feel she she is not high profile enough to score such a prestigious gig like The X Factor. Like Cheryl Cole, 22-year-old Tulisa originates from a band. The band is called N-Dubz and they can be considered the UK’s answer to The Black Eyed Peas. They are currently signed to US label Def Jam, as they plan to launch their music Stateside. Their most recent single to date is ‘Girls’. Contostavlos has quite a lot in common with her X Factor precedessor. Like Cole, the London born songstress grew up in financial struggle on a rough council estate.

She was also engaged to black DJ Adam Bailey before calling it off in 2009. The singer, known for her feisty persona, is expected to win over audiences with her hardcore no-nonsence attitude. With the chavvy singer not being so established, she’s going to have to really prove herself on that panel. I personally feel they could have chosen Amelle from The Sugababes, or ANY member of The Sugababes for that matter. But I’m all for giving her a chance. Check out the music video for her latest single ‘Girls’ below.

Not that we didn’t know this already but today, we get official confirmation from ITV that former Destiny’s Child songstress Kelly Rowland will join Take That’s Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and N-Dubz songstress Tulisa Contostavlos as a judge on the UK’s X Factor. Filmed auditions begin on Wednesday in my hometown Birmingham. “I am so excited to join The X Factor UK and be able to spend time in one of my favourite places in the world,” Kelly said in a statement. “The music coming out of the UK right now is incredible with artists like Adele, Jessie J and James Blake, so I’m confident this season of The X Factor will give me opportunity to hear a few diamonds in the rough. Being a judge is never easy, but I promise to be as sternly honest as I can and also encourage everyone who crosses the stage. I can’t wait to meet the world’s next superstar!” she added.

Kelly serves as a worthy judge on the UK’s biggest talent show. Not only can she sing but being from one of the biggest selling girl groups of all time shows Rowland has even bigger credentials than previous judge Cheryl Cole. Rowland has the right looks, musical know-how and has cracked BOTH sides of the Atlantic. This is the type of credibility bosses should have been looking for in their judge choices (one of the main reasons why Cole encountered the sack on the US version in the first place). Not to mention that Rowland’s new single ‘Motivation’ is doing extremely well in the US. Last week, the track soared to number one on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and she has also secured herself a solid fanbase in the UK as well. At present, the world is now Kelly’s oyster.
