With two men being charged with plotting her murder, Joss Stone has spoken for the first time about her new album since the incident.
The 24-year-old talks about her Dave Stewart co-produced new album ‘LP1′, which will hit stores on July 26th. Stone appears enthusiastic about the 10-track project as it is the first album to be released on her own Stone’d Records imprint, through Surfdog Records.
“It’s really cool, because I just make music and then I put it out and give it to the world. I can just do what I do now, do what’s fun, and I won’t do what’s not fun, which is so nice. There’s no man there in a suit telling me that I’m crap, which is also nice. (‘LP1′) is about the whole new life that I’m living right now. It’s like a celebration of leaving the situation that I was in before and being free now” Source.
Many people wind up working for uninspiring people and are left feeling trapped, which was pretty much the case with Stone. Those feelings of belittlement were further fuelled when EMI/Virgin refused to financially support her last album ‘Colour Me Free’. The album’s lead single was a musical ‘middle finger’ aimed at the label which more than likely ruffled their feathers.
Still, she remains positive about the new venture as she waves goodbye to those pesky men in suits. Her new single, the Dave Stewart produced ‘Somehow’ goes for adds (US Triple A Radio) on July 11th and she has a small European tour lined up for late July.
Out with the old and in with the new.
