Kelly Rowland ‘motivates’ Jay Leno…

Kelly Rowland‘s visit to ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ last night marked her only performance since her new album ‘Here I Am’ hit stores this week. This is only her second performance of ‘Motivation’ to date so it was crucial for Rowland to raise the bar from what she delivered at this years BET Awards. The 30-year-old’s live rendition of the song was crisp with slick choreography and slightly off-pitch vocals but nothing that really took away from the performance.

The singer’s promo schedule this week had more holes in it than a sieve but if Rowland was only going to get one performance, she may as well have performed like her bread and butter depended on it. And that she did.

Yes she did. A bit pitchy and nervous (some people are saying she was sick but look at Bey’s most recent performances) but overall a very good performance. She looked real sexy too.

Why does her voice always deeper live. and also she should stop overusing those vocal runs. sometimes it gets annoying to get a run for every note. other than that it was nice

Kelly really disappointed me she only performed once so far and this is the vocal we get? There was nothing for her to be nervous for her vocals sucked plain and simple! Look at bee she was sick and still gave a decent vocal performance on Kimmel and the view. And before anyone says bee was just standing there it should be noted that Kelly was too until the second half of the performance which was good dance wise sucked vocally still.

Kelly is 15 yrs in the game too long for a vocal like that both she and riri need vocal lessons as fans are sick off these inconsistent vocals one minute the rock the next they suck!

I enjoyed the performance. Motivation is weird for her because the vocal style on the song and the way it was created is different from Kelly’s natural singing style. She has to add all those extra runs to fill the verses out a bit. There’s so much space (result of minimal lyrics).

Anyway, aside from my technical POV, I thought the performance was hot. Vocally, there were some pitchiness, but it was good over all. Your dynamic change from studio to performance. Your energy levels are higher, etc.

Kelly did that shit, man. I want her to perform this more and I think she will on the future. As well as her new single.

First off, she looked amazing, gotta give her that. Kelly NEVER gives an amazing vocal, she’s always pitchy. The performance was decent though, something Destiny’s Child would’ve done….

i thought the performance was great and me personally found nothing wrong with her voice. And i like how she performes overall i really liked when she was like hold up we aint done yet but that’s just me.

Awwww Kelly…. NO GOOD….. Dang Boo…… But by now she should have performed this a dozen times and should have gotten it down to a science. She should know how to change it up to suit her voice live. This is no good. Still love U Kel. Lets get it together

Kelly should have started her promotion couple weeks a go when everyone was talking about her and the song was on repeat. Now motivation is decling in air play and itunes. People are moving on. She wait too long. Promotion is the key…Kelly and her team messed up. Good luck Kelly! want you to do well.

I think with continuous practice her vocals will be fine.i dont know why pple have to compare kelly to either riri or beyonce.let each woman be her own competition cos comparing them against each other we make one woman a lessor against another which is not fair.they have different strengths and weakeness

I have a musical background so if you were speaking the truth I would be one of the first to agree with you.

Her vocals have been many times. Why don’t yall just youtube her performances. She has rough ones at times and she has a lot of great ones too. Not the most consistent but when things go right her vocals are clear.

I don’t mean to compare the too but like she said, they’re from the same group, both have great voices, good music and years in the industry.

She looked HOT. I thought it wsa ok, LOVED the suit. Yes, it was a bit pitchy but she still did a decent job. The dancing was nice. I just never really understood she came from one of the best groups out where they trained to SING AND DANCE all at the same time and how it was MASTERED my just one of them is beyond me. And I’m not one to compare it’s just a simple observation. You’d think after being there and being in the game for 15+ years, that stage would be ripped apart. O well, hope she keeps doing live performances.

I couldn’t agree more. She’s done much better but this was by no means a bad performance. I think with more performances it will only get better.

She sang a bit of it A capella here. It’s not like she can’t do it live.

It wasn’t bad, she did sing out of tune in some parts and the falsettos weren’t strong but she can def. hold a note.

i’m tired of hearing this wack ass song tht’s been out for like 2 yrs now she needs to go on to the nxt single….
Her performance was nothing special Kelly will never be mainstream–get over it….she jst lucked out on a single featuring lil wayne….her album won’t even go gold so tht’s considered a FLOP and i’m sure she won’t have another number one single….
She jst needs to give it up and the delusional pple tht think she actually thinks she has a chance will soon forget abt her also….
