I don’t see Rihanna’s career being able to sustain a break. She is an icon in her own right, for the generation. But, she has the syndrome of Cyndi Lauper; they are for now artist. Though their songs may hold weight as fun, catchy, bounce classics, they’re not able to stay home for a year & come back with the same prowess.

She’s doing what’s best for her career. Selling what she can, and making money while she can. Like the aforementioned, she won’t be able to carry on in her late 30′s.

Not to compare her to Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Tina Turner, Amy Winehouse(rest her soul), Sade, they’re able to leave for years, if chosen & continue with the same fan base, while capturing more.

Adele, take hints from Rihanna. I don’t know how long her streak will last, but like Jill Scott & Erykah Badu, she may be in the same category.

I love Rihanna but I do agree, she needs to just take a little time off. Live her life a little she has been working and touring and recording for years on end. I get where you’re coming from. When it comes to Rihanna I like that she keeps releasing music because she’s also bringing loads of hits which is what made this tour her best. She has a long line of hits to perform. Rihanna also comes with something new each time (in a very short space of time I might add), a sort of reinvention with each new album which is something artists like Taylor Swift don’t do. That’s why those artists need to take breaks.

Adele has a few things going for her. She’s relatable, talented and her songs although different do have Pop sensibilities and appeal. When the music is outstanding and with the right exposure, talented artists do shine every now and then.

Artist of today have to commercial to make real money Sade and Maxwell were selling music before the downloading of music starts.
Artist now are not making money off selling cds. only the label make money. Artist have to brand themselves using the music as a launching pad. Rihanna is in the process of building her brand. so who am I to tell her to take break. try starting a small business and see if you have time to take break. most ppl who run small business work 7 days at long hours.
