Honestly, is this is the best the Sugababes can come up with? The video for their new single ‘Freedom’ premiered today, and sadly, it is a black ball of nothingness. After flopping hard and being dropped, you’d think the babes would try and make a statement being that this is their first debut on Sony. Liberating yourself in the club? Contrived lesbianism? Dark lighting with no concept? Fighting for feedom is what’s going on in the world today. And coming up with something more creative and exciting to drum up further interest would not have been difficult. Instead, we get a samey and dull visual with one scene/setting and no choreography.
Unfortunately, partying in a club has become a major stamp for mainstream music videos today and this is what they decided to go with. It just seems like a really lazy approach on their behalf. The visual is not cohesive with the song and given that Nokia paid for it, a bigger budget was very much expected. Verdict: Underwhelming.
