“I didn’t write it anyway, y’all!”
At the top of the year following the release of “Hold It Against Me”, Britney Spears and her producers were accused of plagiarism and subsequently sued by The Bellamy Brothers. They claimed “Hold It Against Me” blatantly ripped-off their 1979 song, “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me?” Heard of it before? Thought so.
Sure, both song titles bare obvious similarities, but that pick up line is about as original as “Did it hurt? When? When you fell from heaven?” [insert eye roll] Clearly these two were trying to use Britney & Co. for residual relevance; however, it appears the country duo are now singing quite a different tune. Find out if it’s music to Britney’s ears after the jump!

The Bellamy Brothers have decided not only to drop their silly lawsuit, but to issue the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer an apology. In a statement, obtained by TMZ, the country stars said: “The Bellamy Brothers apologise to Dr. Luke and Max Martin for the Bellamys’ public statements and any false impressions suggested by the statements on their website that Dr. Luke and Max Martin copy the works of others.” Case closed.
