Watch: Celine Dion performs ‘Open Arms’ at MDA Telethon…

Powerhouse diva Celine Dion also leant her powerful vocal chops at the MDA Telethon in Las Vegas this weekend. In her plea to help find a cure for muscular dystrophy, she took to the stage to perform the classic ‘Open Arms’. Sounds familiar Mimi lambs? Of course it does, as this is the timeless power ballad which was made famous by fellow powerhouse legend Mariah Carey.

I will never appreciate any other version more than Mariah’s, but Celine did her thang, and she saaaang. Beautifully, I must add. The 43-year-old showed the world that she can still belt out when need be, proving why she’s up there as one of today’s top veteran vocalists. Check out her performance below.

I love both Mariah and Celine’s versions, but leave it to Celine to give songs some needed restrain and subtlety, I prefer this one at the moment.

That’s the thing with Mariah.
She eats her songs, once she touch her precious talent on it, it instantly became her trademark. You forget about the original.
Celine is my fav. behind Mariah, so I very pleased. And yes, she did a good job.

The guy from Journey gave me all the diva I need on this track. I perfer many of Mariah’s covers, but Journey’s is way more heartfelt. I love Celine, but I kind of blanked on this performance, I was surprised when she was finished. I was like “That’s it?”

Are you kidding proph? MC’s version is what made this song, she shrouded it in mystery and nostalgia.
