Rihanna hospitalised, cancels concert in Sweden: Is she overworking herself?

Rihanna was forced to cancel her concert in Malmo, Sweden earlier tonight after coming down with flu. She tweeted this shocking photo of her arm attached to an IV line with the words “Sorry Malmo!!!” In an official statement to US Weekly, the singer said: “I am sorry to everyone who was coming out to my show in Malmo, Sweden. I was so excited to perform for you all” and adding that “I’m really disappointed I couldn’t be there”.

Rihanna has been overworking herself like mad. She’s been touring excessively with not much of a gap in between so-called breaks. When she does get a day or two off, she uses it spending time in the studio to finish recording her upcoming new album ‘Talk That Talk’ (out on Nov 21st). With the singer’s ‘Loud’ tour taking up pretty much the entire period of November and December, there leaves very little room for her to do serious promotion for the project. I don’t even get why she’s still recording the album. Why announce a release date if an album is not complete? It just seems like she’s working herself into the ground just to meet the deadline. Shouldn’t it be, you complete the album FIRST, then announce the release date LATER? It just seems farfetched that she’s still recording the album two weeks before it is due to be released. Saying that, here’s a question. Is all this excessive workload causing Rihanna to become ill? We wish her nothing but a speedy recovery.

Epix has released a sneak peek clip of Britney Spears performing ‘Slave 4 U’ on her ‘Femme Fatale’ tour. A svelte Britney looks absolutely amazing but the physical attribute of her appearance may not have matched what she delivered on stage. Britney’s energy (or lack thereof) is pretty much comparable to a pensioner after consuming ten tins of redbull in one sitting. Maybe that’s not such a bad thing. It all depends on how easy it is for you to be impressed.

The ‘Femme Fatale’ tour is set to premiere on November 12th courtesy of premium cable channel Epix. It follows the singer on her highly successful North American first leg. Check out the preview below.

On the same night a posthumous Amy Winehouse album was announced, JoJo was somewhere in Detroit paying tribute to the late star at the Hard Rock Cafe. The singer delivered a stunning acoustic rendition of Amy’s ‘You Know I’m No Good’ from the critically acclaimed ‘Back to Black’ album. Of course no one could do it like Ms Winehouse but she totally embraced the song and made it her own. Aaliyah fans were also in for a treat because she performed the late R&B star’s hit singles ‘Are You That Somebody?’, ‘One in a Million’ and several more.

JoJo is so damn talented. She sure merked it! Sometimes you forget she’s just 20-years-old. I wonder which artist she’ll be covering tonight? Watch the stunning array of performances after the jump.

Amy Winehouse will recieve her first posthumous release when new album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ hits retailers on Dec 5th. The new songs are lifted from earlier recording sessions in her career. Several were recorded for album number three. The album features material produced by Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson who were both appointed to work on her third studio album previously. In an official statement, her father Mitch Winehouse says: “If the family had felt that this album wasn’t up to the standard of ‘Frank’ and ‘Back To Black’ we would never have agreed to release it and we believe it will stand as a fitting tribute to Amy’s musical legacy”.

‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ features alternate versions of classic songs, including slowed down re-workings of ‘Tears Dry’ and the hit single ‘Valerie’. It will also include ‘Body & Soul’, her recently released duet with Jazz legend Tony Bennett. Sales of the LP will benefit charity, with £1 from each copy going towards the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Check out the tracklist and song descriptions below.

Record-breaking bitch Rihanna is set to play her 11th concert at London’s O2 Arena this year! For it has just been announced she will headline the opening day of this year’s Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball at the O2 Arena. This adds to the record-breaking 10 dates of her current ‘Loud’ tour. The singer was added to the day one line-up during Capital Breakfast this morning (October 31st). This year’s event will take place on December 3rd and 4th. Tickets for the 2011 Jingle Bell Ball went on general sale early this morning (31st October) at 8am.

She will join previously announced acts Olly Murs, The Wanted, Pixie Lott, Calvin Harris and Jason Derulo. Good job they got Rihanna to headline this show because their line-up was looking dryer than the middle of the Sahara desert. Bow down.

Lady Gaga‘s directorial debut for her upcoming ‘Marry The Night’ visual will be unleashed this month (November). In a recent interview, she said “I’m looking forward to sharing this autobiographical video with the world. I’m very excited”. A day after that interview, she performed at the Formula One after-party in India last night. For the very first time, she sang an acoustic rendition of the track, which was layered with an Indian instrumental. Away from the big costumes and attention-grabbing theatrics, you see that as an artist Gaga has much more to offer. I’ll definetely be waiting for that acoustic album in the foreseeable future.

‘Marry The Night’ serves as the fifth single from multi-platinum selling album ‘Born This Way’. Watch Gaga’s first performance of the track below (if you can get past a very chatty crowd)…

Usher’s new look is… frightening!

*screams* Usher, don’t ever do that again! Just…no. It’s not YOU. That is just wrong on so many levels. For a while, Usher’s homeless look was starting to grow on me. But he shaved his facial hair clean because he possibly wanted to dress in drag for halloween. Nothing about this look is cute or sexy. When a man reaches a certain age, groomed facial hair adds to the appeal. This look just magnifies further that he’s not going to age very well. Rather than ditch the beard, he should have got himself a nice haircut – one similar to his ‘Confessions’ or ’8701′ era.

There ought to be a law dictating the grooming standards for these men. I volunteer to personally ensure compliance.

Nicole Scherzinger sang through her heartbreak on tonight’s X Factor results show. Is it any wonder she offered not much of a performance as she normally would? Breaking up with Lewis Hamilton meant that audience members had to painfully sit through seeing the X Factor USA judge rolling around on stage and making meowing sounds like a weeping pussycat. Plus, with all those flickering stage lights, she obviously had no mercy on any one suffering from epileptic fits. If I had anything positive to say it would be that while performing new single ‘Try With Me’, she looked absolutely beautiful. Former X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd also performed on tonight’s results show, singing her new single ‘With Your Love’.

There was a dance break in between and although her dancing wasn’t the most hideous, it looked like she was having a seizure. Her moves were very stiff and her transitioning wasn’t very smooth. She could definetely have used some sage oil to loosen up those stiff muscles. Obviously, she’s not a fluent mover but she gets a C for trying at least. Watch both performances below.
