Bridget Kelly joins Willow Smith and Alexis Jordan to be signed on Jay-Z‘s RocNation. Sharp eared listeners will notice that her vocal technique is eerily similar to an early Alicia Keys. Kelly sounds exactly how Keys did when a 20-year-old Alicia released her debut album ‘Songs In A Minor’. This would also explain why Jay-Z enlisted Kelly to step in for Alicia during his live renditions of ‘Empire State of Mind’. She has a great voice, not an amazing one but her songs are pretty solid.
Kelly is preparing to release her upcoming EP, titled ‘Every Girl’. It features production from The-Dream and several others and will be made available for free download on October 19th. You can listen to a newly leaked track from the EP after the jump.
‘Seek & Destroy’ is a profanity-laced track penned by The-Dream and produced by Shea Taylor and will feature on her upcoming EP.
‘Thinking About Forever’ is her buzz track which came out over the summer. It is written by Frank Ocean…

Yupp. She’s very similar. She’s aware of the comparison too. I find it interesting that she’s also coming in angry with the language, the same way Alicia started. AK wasn’t goin in this angry but BK said her music was originally going that route before Jay sent her back in.
Nice track. People hate on her Thinking About Forever because they heard Frank’s demo first but I think she did a solid job.

If you read that little descriptive area from Toya again, she says Bridget has a great voice, not an amazing one. I think she’ll prove Toya wrong in the long run but why do you have to be so “shocked”. Why is Rihanna brought up once again?
Bridget’s vocals sound a lot more polished then Alicia’s vocals…Alicia’s were a little bit more grittier…but I’m excited for Bridget and can’t wait for her EP, I instantly loved Seek and Destroy when it dropped yesterday
Alicia’s voice is no longer pleasant,especially live. Musically, we’ll see whether identity is.

Maybe not so. Alicia does way way better with not having to use the f-word to make her song GREAT and AMAZING. This chica needs to take notes . . . and Camel too. As successful as he is he stay with the n-words in his music along with the f-word AND that disgusting b-word. Thumbs down for that and come again. Actually, Bridget Kelly is an amazing vocalist. Listen to her Thinking Bout Forever acoustic performance. Her and Alicia are only being compared b/c she looks lind of like her and sang Empire State of Mind with Jay a dew times. She actually sings a little better than Alicia Keys. And I can’t believe I’m saying so b/c I love Alicia.
Either way, I’m looking forward to Bridget, I like Seek & Destroy.
