This week’s finalisation of her divorce to producer The-Dream sees Christina Milian celebrate in a major way. Apparently, she has scored one hell of a gig replacing Alison Haislip as the new Social Media Correspondent for The Voice, as confirmed by NBC last night. “Her experience as a singer will provide a comfort level to our artists when they speak to her about the ins and outs of the competition” says NBC president Paul Telegdy in an official statement. A jubilant Milian also tweeted: “I’m officially your eyes and ears behind and beyond the stage for The Voice so if you’re a major fan you may wanna follow me!” Milian was once rumoured to be in negotiation to appear as a contendar on ‘Dancing With The Stars’, but with the popularity of The Voice, this was also a very smart, longterm career move (she doesn’t have to be the one worrying about getting voted off each week). It would also serve as a great promotional tool for when she’s ready to release her new album next year. If you follow her tweets, she was in the studio as early as this week finishing the album.
I don’t know how she got this gig because she was one of the more lowkey singers in the industry. I’m not knocking her accomplishments but she wasn’t exactly an artist known for setting the charts alight. Whatever the case though, good for her. The Voice, hosted by Carson Daly and starring musical coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, is getting a big Season 2 launch after the Super Bowl on Feb 5th, 2012.
