Beyonce is clearly the best vocalist of this generation. Her versatility is 2nd to none she can give sass and attitude for pop anthems, her rhythmic sensibilities mean she can kill up tempo rnb and hip hop influenced tracks with a stacatto delivery more on point than any RnB chick in the game (for more info check Mary J’s Love A Woman)her underrated range, pitch placement and superior technique mean she can successfully pull off opera or vocally intricate ballads and over the years especially in eras following her 1st album her sense of musicianship has improved drastically from over singing and excessive riffing that saturated her pre Destiny Fulfilled DC3 work to the point where these days she takes note of the sentiment behind lyrics and production and gives a complimentary vocal treatment. (Check out her stripped back appropriate vocals for If I Were A Boy, Disappear, Miss You) Xtina has a richer tone when it comes to lower and mid belting, but Xtinas lack of musicianship (see her butchering of the national anthem, James Browns a Mans World and At Last) her poor technique have lead to some serious vocal deterioration ( see all of her Bionic era live performances) Xtina in mid voice undoubtedly has a richer tone, but when it comes to lower register , upper register and technique Beyonce drags this chick all over the shop.

@Scoopz. Beyonce is a great vocalist and her vocal control is effortless, however Christina has a powerful voice but she lacks control of it at most times. That novel you wrote in unnecessary.

What can you expect? This site is a big Christina HATER. Beyonce never had that voice when she was little, she can barely control her voice. She went through years of vocal training that’s why her voice became better. Xtina never had those help and she was named one of the best voices of all time. I wonder why how Christina does stay relevant for not releasing an album 3x a year lol

@Patrick- How is this site a Xtina hater when there have been two posts in the past week praising Xtina as one of the top tier vocalists of her generation? Are they hating simply because they dont rate her as the best like you? Thats down to personal opinion.

Youre right Xtina hasnt had as much training as Beyonce and it shows. Xtina began with more natural vocal talent than Beyonce did and she got too comfortable and complacent especially after her marketing team trying to hype up her stripped album started calling her the voice of a generation. At that point (2001) she was. But natural talent can only take you so far. Years of misuse, bad technique and pushing herself past her comfortable range have caused dramatic deterioration. Beyonce started off with a good level of talent and worked hard and never stopped working. She started off in a group, but as a solo act when she had to shine independently she gained confidence and started to open up vocally and develop and you truly hear that on the B’Day album. The upper register belting on that on tracks such as “Creole” “Lost Your Mind” the consistent F5′s she belts out on “Green Light” all have a resonance and quality of sound that Xtina could only hope to achieve now or even in her heyday.

Its not just about hitting a note, its about how you hit it, the resonance, the quality of the sound produce, is it swooped up there stepping up from other notes like xtina always does or is it hit spot on straight from the bat like Beyonce. When Xtina sticks to her comfort zone and doesnt try and play the Mariah or Whitney that shes not she can produce a lovely rich tone with more warmth in that mid range than Beyonce has, but Xtina has in her head that she needs to live up to that voice of the generation title her own label put out there and so we will forever be subjected to strained upper belting and over singing passed off as soulful and unmusical, non complimentary falsetto over riffing in an attempt to display range. Good voice, good singer, bad technique, bad musicianship.

Christina has a versatile voice. She’s done rock, pop, ballads, soul, jazz, alternative etc…

I think Beyonce has an amazing voice but it’s not versatile.

Let’s face it….these 2 should not be put in the same sentence considering that Beyonce needed 2 backup singers/dancers to make herself big and Christina’s voice made her big.

The truth… Why is Beyonce put over Christina? Christina only TRULY has control in ONE register.. Her range is only there SOMETIMES. She has NO control in her lower register, and her head voice sucks. Beyonce has control in ALL of her registers. She glides through her range effortlessly. THAT is what puts Beyonce above Christina, and that is no shade. People get distracted by Christina’s raw power and fail to notice everything else about her as a vocalist.

It’s frustrating because Xtina could be on Mariah’s level if she practiced and humbled herself.

@christinascoming I HATE when ppl are like beyonce needed dancers blah blah .. Beyonce dances because SHE CAN! Christina has TRIED to dance while singing and it looks awkward and she sounds out of breath and a mess (see. 2009 AMAs).. Beyonce can do backflips while singing ave maria so that dancing argument is so dumb .. I love christinas voice and agree that she’s ONE of the voices of the our generation but doesn’t have vocal control of our generation ..(Oh and ppl saying beys not versatile or doesn’t sing with soul PLEASE go listen to the cadillac records soundtrack that’s what pushed all these other singers aside and beyonce was shining though for me) ..Beyonces voice is aging BEAUTIFULLY her runs get clear and clear .. I mean if we compare her vocals today to 10 years ago its like then she was the student now she’s the teacher .. Now with christina .. *sighs* .. I duno its becoming gratey she’s on the dangerous slippery slope of screaming instead of belting (there’s a BIG difference) and I duno now when I watch a christina performance I cringe waiting for the high note hoping it comes out right and clear .. I’ve never worried about beyonce vocally in my life and never have been dissapointed after .. So ur right they shouldn’t be in the same sentence at all I just disagree with why

People are actually impressed by Christinas Candyman and At Last note, or shockingly by her Mans World James Brown tribute. They focus on power and dont consider or at least are ignorant to the fact that shes only hitting a 5th octave C which is unimpressive, or on the quality of the note which in all of the live performances for those songs is awful. Really awful. Strained and sounds as if its painful for her to produce. Once again its all about how you hit a note, the quality of sound produced, not just about hitting it and how powerful it is.

Beyonce’s voice is nothing special.

I still remember that American Idol alumnus who sang her version of Love on Top, that knocked this has-been’s version out of the water.

Beyonce’s voice is second only to Kim Kardashian’s voice. Nuff said.

Part of the reason that worthless song failed in the charts is because of Beyonce the Has-Been’s irritating singing. It’s literally grating to the eardrums.

Kim Kardsashian and Beyonce really deserve to be pitted against each other. Their talents and level of famewhoring are almost equal.

Kim K is slightly more talented though.

I like Christina Aguilera, I do, but I love Beyonce more! lol and let’s not forget Beyonce can still slay and hit the same notes while running around back and forth on stage with stilletos, she can still hit the same notes while flying and doing spins in mid air, she can still still hit the same notes while throwing herself on the ground and catching the holy ghost! lol not many can do that!

LOL @ mad and pressed Xtina stans. Where have y’all been? Beyonce been surpassed Xtina vocally, dragging her up and down the vocal scale for a decade. It’s 1 thing to blessed with raw vocal talent, but it’s even more impressive to blessed with it,yet nurture that vocal gift and train it. Beyonce was way smart to nurture her vocal talent and watch it flourish and evolve to the powerhouse she is today. Both whitney and Mariah all got intense vocal training at the start of their careers,leading to their vocal peaks where they were unstoppable. Meanwhile Xtina carried on with her horrible vocal habits, with the hype and marketing ploy of being the voice of the generation, and a false self of entitlement. Which in the long run hasn’t worked for her, coz her voice has regressed and deteriorated . All those years of vocal abuse did her in for good. Also having vocal training doesn’t automatically created fantastic singers, you actually have to posses vocal raw talent to work with.

@iceberg let me break it down for u because clearly you can’t read .. If u read what I wrote I called christina one of my favorite voices but srry hun ears don’t lie .. During the stripped era and during dangerously in love christina would her EATEN BEYONCE ALIVE!! And I would admit that .. Beyonce had a great voice but it didn’t have the power and control it does today and christinas was flawless with every belt perfectly in key no gratey or straining just perfectly clear.. However we aren’t talking about 8 or 9 years ago this is about today .. There’s a beautiful device called youtube where u can watch virtually ALL of christinas recent performances (superbowl, grammy tribute, amas etc) and watch beys (american idol, oprah, the view, vmas) and the what I said earlier has COMPLETELY reversed ..Beyonces voice is powerful and clear and strong while christinas is gratey and straining (actually beyonces was never like that) .. Christina had the potential to be greater than bey but clearly has NOT taken care of voice and it struggles and sometimes its seriously hard to listen too .. Beyonce sounds better this year than last year and better last year than the year before she just keeps getting better and better .. 90 percent of the reviews for “4″ mention the power of beyonces voice so I’m srry mentioning a 3 year old list doesn’t make much of point .. Because maybe 3 years ago the last thing we heard from christina was Back to basics which she slayedd those live performances during that era so I might have agreed .. However we don’t live in past we live now and now beyonce has GROSSLY surpassed christina in almost every box (power, control, runs, belts etc.) u talking about a sing off?? A sing off today?? ^^ That exchange is hilarious! I personally think beyonce is a much better singer than christina, it is just that beyonce is not as praised for her voice. When people think of beyonce they think of Crazy In Love, Get Me Bodied and Single Ladies not really focusing on the Dangerously in Loves, Ave Maria, Speehless, Resentment, Love On Top etc., because Beyonce has the unique ability in this industry to completely SLAY an uptempto routine then sit down on the piano and completely SLAY a ballad but the more flashy stuff gets focused on of course. Christina usually stands there and sings so that’s all there really is to focus on because when she tries to dance, well let’s just say she shouldn’t. They are both amazing singers but when it comes to technique, controlling belts, crisp runs and all that good stuff its Beyonce hands down. But Happy New Year Guys!!
