UK boyband JLS are going all out for their fourth new album. Judging by their line-up, this could be their best album yet. Could they finally deliver a hot album for once? The quartet reveal they’re “halfway through it” and will be jetting to Los Angeles to work with big time producers/songwriters Babyface, Sean Garrett and Bangladesh for the project. They say the album will take on a different direction than the previous ones and have expressed a desire to work with Adele, plus, Marvin couldn’t hide his jubilance at marrying Rochelle later this year!

You’ve started work on your fourth album; how’s it going?
Marvin: “We’re halfway through it at the moment and we’ve already put a lot of material together. We’re off to Los Angeles tomorrow to work with Babyface, Sean Garrett – who’s one of America’s biggest songwriters – and Bangladesh (Rihanna, Lil Wayne). We’ll be there for two weeks to wrap it up and then we’re back in the UK for our tour. Then we’ll prepare to release our new single.”

That’s four albums in four years. Surely you must be knackered?
Marvin: “People always say we’re working too hard, but we’re constantly writing all the time for fun. We write together, individually and in pairs so it means we often get a lot of material together very quickly.”

You’ve said you want to work with Ed Sheeran on the album. Does that mean this LP will sound a bit more stripped-back?
Aston: “Definitely. There’s already been a few moments like that on our previous albums, but we want to take some of it back to our roots from when we first began. We love the way that Ed performs on stage – it’s incredible. We think we could do something amazing together in the studio. We believe it’s all in the pipeline.”
Marvin: “I’d love to write with Adele as well. She’s an incredible songwriter, but recently she only seems to be credited for her albums sales. It’s only ever her and one producer and her in the studio. We’d love to set something up with her.”

What about a collaboration with The Saturdays?
Marvin: “The only Saturdays collaboration this year will be mine and Rochelle’s wedding. That will definitely be happening this year!”
