Christina Aguilera‘s comeback could be a healthy one if debuting figures for her hit show ‘The Voice’ is anything to go by. Her spray tan embarrassment at Etta James funeral has now become a distant memory after ‘The Voice’ scored record-breaking debuting numbers of 37.6 million viewers right after the Super Bowl broadcast. That is almost double the number (20 million) Simon Cowell predicted for his lukewarm performing ‘X Factor USA’ show and almost three times more than what his show attracted last year (an average of 12 million).

The numbers also trump ‘American Idol’ which now averages a 20 million audience, and it doesn’t help that they encountered their biggest ratings drop in the shows history since it’s season 11 debut in January. Even if ratings drop for ‘The Voice’, and they begin averaging American Idol type numbers, this would still be a major victory. An accomplishment which will have Cowell seething in his high waisted pants. For those are the very numbers he was having wet dreams about when he was riding on that cocky high horse of his. Cowell’s panic about the shows lukewarm ratings has resulted in a recent bloodbath: a host and two judges recieving the axe.

Aguilera must be popping corks right now, because this is the breakthrough needed to secure herself a successful music comeback. New single ‘Love Your Body’ seemed like it was ready to be premiered last month. RCA Records submitted the track to several radio personalities who were waiting for the “go ahead”, and yet, nothing. Still, it would be unwise not to benefit from the shows astounding popularity like what her co-stars have done previously (and encountered chart success in doing so).
