Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt paid tribute to recently passed legends Etta James and Whitney Houston last night. They sang Etta’s ‘Sunday Kind of Love’, a less obvious choice from the legend’s back catalogue. As much as I love Alicia, I have to be honest and say Bonnie’s 500 year old vocal chords totally obliterated Alicia’s.
Keys was pitchy, off-key and there was some straining in between. I totally wanted Alicia to nail this tribute but I was left sorely disappointed. She’s still a talented artist and she DID look stunning, but other than that, I can’t say anything great. Now Bonnie on the other hand, love, love, loved it!

This was a wretched tribute. If that was a tribute.
They’ve had plenty of time to put together something more fitting.
^ Oh be quiet, sick of biased stans ruining good blogs with predictable comments, mad that Christina didn’t do it *sigh
I agree about Alicia Toya but Bonnies voice
sing mama!
Etta deserved better than this. I just think it was inappropriate for the mention of Whitney while tributing another passed away legend and then performing a half assed thing.. I was shocked at how short it was but I suppose those who sought the Grammys to do something right for once were delusional int he first place.
I missed this performance last night because I ran to get something to eat. But, when I got back to the message board everybody was saying Bonnie slayed and Alicia was…typical Alicica. After watching, I would have to agree. Bonnie really out did Alicia.
Alicia sucked. Bonnie slayed. The tribute was too short and Alicia needs vocal lessons.
