Melanie Fiona‘s latest album ‘The MF Life’ notched up a #7 position on the Billboard 200 chart this week with sales of 34,000 copies.

Winning a Grammy or two has not done wonders for the album. Sadly, people did not come out in droves to support it. But at least it’s a major step up from her 2009 debut ‘The Bridge’, which sold 4,000 copies in its opening week and debuted at #128. The album eventually peaked at #27 and overtime, pushed 350k units in total. So, it’s not all bad when you look at it. If an album can have opening sales of 4k and sell 350k, she could possibly go Gold with this one. Of course she would need a hit in order to drive those extra sales in the same vein as her debut album, with R&B smash ‘It Kills Me’. In a bid to attract more interest in the LP, she’s played a number of gigs across the country this week including Atlanta and Chicago. On top of that, she is set to perform at the Austin Urban Music Festival this coming Friday. You can download the deluxe edition of Melanie’s new album on iTunes.
