Rihanna‘s little sister (in another life perhaps) takes us behind-the-scenes of her first official music video for new UK single, ‘R.I.P.’
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, the name is Rita Ora and the track features UK rapper Tinie Tempah. On the set of the Emil Nava-directed clip, Rita is seen in an abandoned warehouse showing off her “Argos catalogue” jewellery and keeping it crunk while standing on top of a vintage car. Everything about Rita screams Rihanna. Not just looks, but the music and fiery personality. ‘R.I.P.’ was intended for Rihanna as confirmed by Drake this week: “‘R.I.P.’ is a song that I originally wrote for Rihanna. Rihanna actually didn’t take the song. I think it was for [Loud] and Rita expressed interest in it and anything I can do for Rita, I will do” he told Capital FM, also revealing that he hopes to make an album with Rihanna one day. With Drake’s obsession soft spot for Rihanna still lingering, Ora serves as the perfect substitute. For not only does she look like Rihanna, they also share the same mentor in rapper Jay-Z.
Rita will serve as a support act for Drake at his Manchester show this Sunday, as well as Glasgow the following day. UKers can pre-order ‘R.I.P.’ by clicking here. I think she has a definite #1 on her hands, and the music video for ‘R.I.P.’ is set to premiere next week.
