When it was wrongly reported that Usher‘s new album was titled ‘The Shanertance’, my initial reaction was, what in the doo-doo hell?

Luckily, it was a misprint. For today, Usher’s label RCA put the wheels in motion by distributing, not only this lush new promo photo above, but a lengthy press release which confirms that his new album is aptly titled ‘Looking For Myself’. A bit basic, but at least it’s more homely. The anticipated project is slated to hit stores on June 12th, 2012. Despite Usher holding an exclusive London listening party for the album this month, the press release states that the popular R&B crooner is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to the project. The album is said to feature a host of top-notch collaborators including Salaam Remi, Diplo, Rico Love, Jim Jonsin, and Max Martin, and that’s only to name the few. The Diplo-produced lead single, ‘Climax’ boasts songwriting credits from Usher, Redd Stylez, Ariel Rechtshaid, and Diplo and happens to be the singer’s 28th top 40 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

Such a feat means he is currently tied with Chris Brown for most top 40 entries among male singers, excluding rappers. Trey Songz is coming out with his new album ‘Chapter V’, and Breezy is coming out with his new album ‘Fortune’, so it seems ol’ boy has some competition with his 20-something year-old peers. My money goes on Usher any day of the week simply because his music is more appealing and he can sing them both right out of the water. I can’t wait to see what else he has to offer and I am glad he’s no longer promoting this conniving “revolutionary pop” rubbish.
