Drake hints at Aaliyah collaboration…

I’ve never seen an artist stan for another artist the way Drake stans for Aaliyah. I’d say it was cute if she were still alive but now I find his public obsession a tad bit creepy.

Drake has tattooed her face on his back, sampled her song on his debut album ‘Thank Me Later’, dedicated a poem and an open letter to her and has admitted his love for her. Not just love as in, what she stood for as an artist but REAL romantic feelings type of love. The 25-year-old rapper, who is currently on his UK tour, spoke to Tim Westwood about having some “great Aaliyah news coming soon”. He was asked to confirm whether it was for a posthumous project which would see him use some of her unreleased recordings, but he just revealed that whatever he had planned would be “special” and that it would signify “great things for music”. I have a lot of respect for Drake BUT, please leave this one alone.

I see no issues with it. No one else mentions her anymore. At least he’s keeping her [forgotten] legacy alive. He’s just a fan like you and me. If you can express your love for Rihanna all the time then allow him to do the same for Aaliyah.

@baker89 that maybe a bit true, but to tattoo someones face on your back, especially someone whom you never met and will never meet in your entire life, is sort of weird. It’s called obsession. He’s rememberance/keeping her legacy alive has crossed it’s boundaries. I’m surprised he didn’t dig up her grave and make Aaliyah his corpse bride =D

Aaliyah had that quality where you felt like you knew her. Whitney had the same quality as do few artists.

He even has Aaliyah on his earbuds when he performs. This is just getting creepy. That aside, I can’t see drake doing anything “special” with a Aaliyah collabo. That autotune will KILL the song. We know it’s oh so necessary for him to use it -_-

She was an AWESOME person and artist. I miss her originiality and dark style so much, especially today with all the manufactured, lame ass singers. Drake was obviously touched by her and has chosen to express it. I dont judge, he can do what he wants and I like that he keeps her name alive.

Aalexis, you are so right. I felt like Aaliyah was the sort of girl I could be friends with and her art spoke to me. Some of my biggest milestones in life have occured with Aaliyah playing in the background.

Not really Petit. ask the many MJ fans around the world that have him tattoed on them…or fans of other musicians. Sometimes a singer/artist can bring that much joy to a persons life that they need to get that mark on them. I personally would never get anyones face tatt’d on me but I get why people do it.

There is a difference between liking someones work and being obsessed. An artist gives you entertainment. Your joy should be found in something else I seen people get Beyonce s Name tatted and Aaliyah s A symbol, an lets not forget the girl who got Drake s name on her forehead which he went off about but got a tat of Aaliyah on his back. Its not respect its obsession. Why would you put anther person anythingvon your body? I personally feel that once an artist dies people put them on this pedestal like they could do no wrong, thats when you get “STANS” who whorship a dead person mpre the they whorship Christ, the one who actually gave you life and the person you are worshiping gave them life and took it away and gave them the ability to creat the music you enjoyed for so long but instead of thanking God for that you thank the artist. The arist just gave you an image to go with the voice. I am not religious but whats messed up it messed up. You shouldn t idolize anybody. I love Aaliyah but she was a person she was not perfect she just was an entertainer with a good heart from what we saw. She was a normal person. Just like you are a person, when. you die who is gonna worship you? Was Aaliyah s life or anyone elses more important than yours because she sang and acted? …………Im just sayin
