New promo pic for ‘The Spirit Indestructible’
Nelly Furtado delivers a hooptastic performance of new single ‘Big Hoops’ live for the first time on UK chatshow ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’.
Nelly’s vocals started off on shaky ground because this was her first time performing the track on live television so her nerves really kicked in. But as the performance progressed, she came out of her shell. It’s quite the rarity for live vocals to actually sound better than the studio vocals. On many an occasion it is usually the other way round. I said it already that the studio vocals were nasal and that the live vocals were more raw and pleasant in comparison. The Native American hoop dancers were hot. It was really cool how they were transitioning the hoops in exact synchronisation while jumping up and down.
Nelly is also preparing to perform the track on tomorrow night’s 2012 Billboard Music Awards. Apparently, she has pushed back her album ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ to September so maybe this will allow the song longer time to manifest itself into a hit. At least once she sticks to a more consistent promo plan. I don’t want her to move onto the next single so soon because this song is too bloody good to give up on at this stage.
