It’s official! It’s bloody official! Mariah Carey will judge on the next season of American Idol! The legendary diva reportedly snagged an alleged $17 million for the position. Mariah Carey:

“As a singer, songwriter, and producer, it’s going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back with ‘American Idol’,” said Mariah. “I’m currently in the studio working on my new album and its first single, ‘Triumphant,’ which will be out early next month. I can’t wait to channel my creative energy as a part of this show which is a massive global phenomenon”. Source.

“We are proud to have one of the world’s greatest-ever female singers join our show,” “Idol” creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said in the release. “Mariah defines the word ‘Idol’ and will inspire every singer that has the honor of performing in front of her”.

I have not watched Idol in yeeeears but boy, will I now? HELL YEAH! Mariah was the best person for this job from DAY ONE and they finally got their woman! Simon Cowell must be mad as hell at this news, especially since he tried to get her on X Factor USA but couldn’t due to her pregnancy. This was a case of American Idol NEEDING Mariah and Mariah NEEDING American Idol. A win-win situation in my book!
