Watch: Tamia & Eric Benet reunite for ‘Spend My Life’ on ‘Verses & Flow’…

This week, Tamia reunites with Eric Benet to perform their classic wedding duet ‘Spend My Life’ on TV One’s ‘Verses & Flow’. As many of you would know, Tamia released her stunning new album ‘Beautiful Surprise’ this week, so she did a spot of promotion, and even performed the title track too. It was nice to see her and Eric back on stage again after all these years (damn that man is STILL fiiiine, lol). I couldn’t get enough of this song in 1999, and 13-years later I still can’t get enough of it.

It’s performances like these that not only brings back an appreciation for authentic R&B music but heightens it too. Although it is no longer selling like it use to, there are still many oldschool heads out there that live for it (myself included). On my end, Tamia’s new album will be getting some serious spins in the many months to come. How about you?

Toya this is the exact reason why I never really take your reviews seriously because your so bias. If this were Kelly (Rowland)you would have attacked her and say that she can’t except her album to do well when she does not promote and this is the exact reason why she won’t be Beyonce. I myself Love Tamia, but I did not know her album came out this week. Stand by what you say Toya, don’t pick and choose who you want to be honest about. Just speaking the truth.

Kelly Rowland? gimme a break!!! I love Kelly but Tamia is on a whole different level!
Even thoush she doesen’t push millions of units, Tamia can be considered a mega-seller given the cirumstances (own label, never sold that much when she was with majors, only charts in R&B).
Taking away the fact that Tamia totally shits on Kelly vocal-wise…her last album actually sold more copies in the States than Ms. kelly or Here I Am and with no major label backing her up…
I’m a little skeptical about the album though, expected more…but I’m happy just to hear her singing even if it’s a bachata song

Tamia is just one of my favorites… she doesn’t need to dress like a whore (like Beyonce always does)!

She’s always so classy and so beautiful… her voice is just amazing!

I’ll always support her and in my opinion “Beautiful Suprise” is her best album to date! She is using another part of her voice skills and I love that! I love the fact that she’s exploring a brand new side even with the higher notes…

“Give me You” and “Love I’m Yours” are just spectacular!

@ Art, I have EVERY legitimate copy of Tamia albums in my CD collection and I will be purchasing this one too when it’s out in the UK. Of course I support Tamia I always have done.

@ BIGGESTAALIYAHFAN, you’re really comparing Kelly to Tamia?

Tamia’s music is consistent QUALITY. Kelly’s music is often hit and miss.
Tamia is an INDEPENDENT artist so she does not have the resources and privileges that Kelly has.
I can go on but Dan pretty much summed it up in a nutshell.

I thoroughly enjoyed this album. No, it’s not her best one, but it’s still a good album.

We gotta be honest u are not honest, you are really biased.. Tamia had a major label for years and never achieved what Kelly has achieved in her entire career. + 15 years later Kelly is still relevant, everyody posts about her had a huge hit with motivation and is currenty in the main itunes top 40 with ICE. Giving her props doesn’t hurt Toya.

@BIGGESTAALIYAHFAN – To be fair, Kelly CAN’T expect her album to do well if she doesn’t promote it, that seems obvious to me. But I get the overall point you’re making.
Flawless performance and she looked beautiful as always. I’ve not listened to the album as nothing really stood out from the previews to me, and I’m not a big fan of independently-released albums – the quality usually lacks due to the low budget and it’s noticeable. I will download it at some point though, maybe if another single is released and I like it.
It’s such a shame that an artist of her calibre who is up there with the best of them can’t get backing from a major label, when you have people who can’t really sing without studio trickery who do.

Ya’ll trippin. Tamia could get a record deal if she wants, she just doesn’t want the strings that come attached to a record deal. I hate to get “conspiracy theory” on ya’ll, but it’s a reality. The music industry is ugly and she wants no part of the fuckery. She has her family and her music on her terms, that’s obviously enough for her. This album isn’t that great, but Between Friends is a GEM! So please stop trying to compare Kelly and Tamia. I’m with Toya on this one. Tamia is EVERYTHING and Toya has good reason to praise her. As a huge Kelly fan as well, Kelly has been on a major label her whole life and her promotion has always been sketchy at best. I’m always so frustrate with her team and disappointed with most of her efforts.

My original comment was gonna be – before i jumped in the debate- that Eric is a BRAVE MAN to take the stage with the likes of Tamia and that voice of hers! Geesh!
