Watch: No Doubt perform ‘Looking Hot’ on UK’s ‘The X Factor’…

No Doubt served as the second guest performers on last night’s X Factor. The band rocked the stage by performing their latest single ‘Looking Hot’, which has been sparking quite the controversy. The band have pulled their Wild West themed music video from YouTube over racism claims. In the visual, the pristine front woman is featured dressed as a Native American. Gwen, clad in leather and tartan, strutted across the stage like nobodies business.

The singer had given a masterclass to X Factor contestants earlier in the week, and even posed it up backstage with their biggest fan Rita Ora who looked like a giddy child at a candy store. Watch No Doubt in action below.

The song is hot and the video is awesome, but lets be real. It is racist. If you’re blind to see it, you have issues. lol. I can appreciate the beauty of the video but no white woman should be dressing up as a Native American. Native Americans is a race and culture. Would it be okay for a black band to paint themselves white or a white band to paint themselves black and jump around like an African Tribe. What makes their ignorance even more shocking is not realizing the non-existent rights and lack of a voice that native americans have. The law silences them and a history of erasing their race and culture from European settlers is a fuckin fact.

I love No Doubt but they should have known better. Gwen is the face of the band so she’s going to get heat for it. Idk wtf the label was thinking with that video concept. They could have had REAL native americans in the video and the band could play cowboys. Being a cowboy isn’t a race.

Nelly Furtado has a true sense of respect for culture. She hired Native American dancers for all her performances of Big Hoops rather than dress like one herself and insult them.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery so although the band may have not had any negative intentions, it doesn’t dismiss the cultural sensitivity.

All things aside, I love the album and hope they release Easy, Gravity, One More Summer and Sparkle as singles throughout 2013.
