Album Sampler: Rihanna – ‘Unapologetic’…

Earlier today, Rihanna unveiled the very interesting tracklist and collaborations for her seventh studio album ‘Unapologetic’. No one had banked on hearing album snippets on the exact same day. If you like what you hear, be sure to pre-order the album here. The album features production from The-Dream, Stargate and David Guetta, with penning contribution from Sia, Ester Dean, Emeli Sande and Adele. The eclectic set sees the singer returning to the moody, darker sounds of ‘Rated R’, while experimenting with a melting pot of genres.

So, how many of you have these snippets on rihpeat? She even samples Ginuwine‘s ‘Pony’ for ‘Jump’, a very infectious cut. ‘Unapologetic’ will drop in stores on November 19th.

I only really like Love Song. But I shouldn’t expect risk taking or a really catchy uptempo song, since I found out about Calvin Harris saying he (and possibly other producers) was given 2 days to show a song. I’m waiting for her next album – in june maybe?

I really Like “Jump”(minus the dubstep), because of the song she sampled. i can’t think of the name of the original song though. I like “Loveeeee Song”(minus future). And i like the sample on Love Without Tradegy

The first song sounds great. The rest, not so much. Average sales for this album would be my guess, that might pick up over time. If she sells a great deal, it will likely be because of personal drama.

Okay. After listening to the snippets again I have to say this is a strong piece of work from Rih. I’m excited by the collab with Mikky Ekko but et down buy the songs ranting about money. I don’t like the dub/grunge tracks much but the rest of it is eclectic, chill and interesting. Half of Me sounds good, the Chris collab sounds great so far. Man I don’t even know what else to say.

I’m gonna probably end up buying it.

Get it Over With and Love Song are my favs! I’m a little more impressed with this album than the last one. I forget the titles of the albums because they come out every 2 days…. But yeah.. Not too bad. The Breezy duet is fun too.

Unchallenging, boring, rushed. This album is a complete mess in terms of production. Can somebody PLEASE convince this girl to take a break! I am over her annual generic pop release already. If she took some time off to create an album that is personal to her and that she really connects with I know that it’ll be ten times better than this. Yet another pop album from her with little heart and rushed production. There’s nothing new or fresh to be found on this album, but the same-old, tired stuff that she did on her last album. It’s a shame, because she is capable of a lot more tbh. Oh well. People will buy it because it’s her. Shame.

This is my Rated R 2.0 I’m not going to lie and say that I’m thoroughly satisfied with how this era was handled, however I will say it it’s better than its predecessor Talk That Talk. At least she didn’t throw in a Birthday Cake. I have to agree and wish she would take some time off to write and just take in her experiences. I think that’s why I connected so well with Rated R. She went through something and channeled it through her music. She went from Good Girl Gone Bad to Badder, to Clean Bad, To A bit Badder, to Bad Ass. Let’s find away to marry all of them. Give us a Rated R with Loud and I’ll be happy

Rihanna is seriously one of those artist I try to dislike but she always brings me the goods with the joints and although this album was rushed I can honestly say she deserves to be on the r&b charts this time around because she’s more urban (particular tracks of course) this go round for sure … then she sampled ginuwine lyrics … she’s won me over yet again … UGH! Salute to her though. she works hard, i give her that.

Good stuff. Getting better with every track I hear. This is the late 80′s early 90′s indie/pop inspired album TTT should have been. An excellent collection that is as innovative as the best of Rated R and Loud — and I think has potential to be a big seller.

I’m going bonkers for JUMP…. WHAT NOW is giving me serious 80′s power ballad meets Take a Bow hotness. The Chris Brown track is pure DEEP HOUSE, actually quite good. LOVE w/o TRAGEDY is cleverly dark 90′s throwback. GET IT OVER WITH a great continuation of Man Down. I’m getting tints of 1990′s REM from NO LOVE ALLOWED. RIGHT NOW is the only sub-par throw away track, IMO it’s a throw away track that panders to mainstream euro radio.

My head is spinning from STAY — on just a 2 minute cut it’s already one of my favorite Rihanna songs.

This album has won me back BIG TIME. It will be on repeat. Rihi did good!

At first I was like it’s ok.. but tbh judging by the samples alone its better than TTT, Loud and Rated R samples when I heard those.

There are some serious hits on this album – songs that I’m like “why wasn’t this the 1st single?” The only thing I don’t like is the track order – the latter half should really start off the album. Start from track 7 and move 1-6 below that and you got what is her 2nd best album.
