An array of talented artists come together to celebrate the legacy of one of music’s iconic divas. Proceed to watch performances from ‘A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston’ below.

The special which was broadcast last night, was filmed at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Some of the acts to pay tribute to Ms Whitney were the younger generation of R&B stars such as:

I could go on but you get the idea…I don’t know who are in charge of putting these list together but between VH1 and this show, they are really messed up what could have been an all star tribute to the greatest voice of all. The music is so dead in the industry.

Jennifer Hudson’s voice is so one-dimensional and heavy. I hate her singing Whitney’s music! I loved how they ended the show. I wonder why CeCe didn’t sing more though. Yolanda killed it. Her voice is amazing.

@LouLou- THANK YOU. JHuds voice lacks versatility, its dramatic qualities mean she can only lay it on thick and heavy, she cant successfully switch it up and give us a different flavour, her voice lacks dynamics, its just loud, then louder with the same tone. Too many people think great singing is purely about power and high notes, thats why you’ll get this misguided X-factor/American Idol generation calling foghorns like JHud and Xtina better vocalists than the likes of Beyonce and Brandy when the opposite is true. Whitney herself had massive power like JHud, but thats where the similarities end. Whitney coupled this with a variety of textures she could employ, amazing volume control and an operatic head voice that meant her performances had variety, dynamics and technical skill.

Brandy, Monica and Beyonce should have been included in this.

Sorry @LouLou but Jennifer Hudson was sang those songs perfectly. I just wasn’t feeling her on “How Will I Know”. But she did rock “I Wanna Dance…” and “Every Woman” no doubt

@scoopz you just called jennifer one dimensional but called monica and brandy good brandy is only good in the lower regions of her registers and monica can only sing 8 note post-2000, and Beyonce’s voice is simply uninteresting lacking any defining characteristics-she does have a pretty vibrato but….. Jennifer isn;t bookin these shows for nothing, she impresses the important ppl

Let me school you all on what Ms. Dion did, ok? This was a RECORDED event – it was not live. Celine sang live. The digital track of the audio portion of the show was then “cleaned up” to sound clearer/more refined and then reset onto the video track. Celine did NOT lip sync this song. And you can tell so at the end because, if you hear where she ends and the audience begins, she gets a bit “crackly” – this is because you cannot clear up “applause” on top of vocals. So they left that last second of her singing “as is.” Please don’t disparage ANY singer unless you know the facts, umkay?

Um J-Hud did amazing her voice is heavy but she hit those high notes and eased up when she needed to I swear its like people have to find something to Bitch about NO ONE is gonna hit it like Whitney and they know that so stop with the stupid comparisons.

Also wonder why CeCe didnt sing her verse and let Yolanda out do her on her and Whitneys song. Very good ending though.

I do agree though that all of these tributes have been lacking in Variety. I also liked that the person to sing I Will ALways Love You was Whitney.

I agree with mostly everything people are commenting on. but for those who keep mentioning Beyonce with the likes of whitney or any female r and b singer out today needs to be fucking shot. that bitch cant sing all she do is dance. PLEASE
