Rihanna’s ‘Unapologetic’ to debut at #1 with highest 1st week sales…

That Rihanna reign won’t let up! The singer is expected to score her first ever #1 album with ‘Unapologetic’ when it tops the Billboard 200 next week. First week sales exceeded expectations to large capacity! And that’s not all…

The unstoppable pop vixen is also set to score her #12 number one single on Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Diamonds’!

Seven albums into her record-breaking career, and Rihanna actually achieves her first #1 with predicted sales of a very impressive 240k-260k copies sold. Such numbers exceed ‘Loud’, which became her fastest-selling album in 2010, notching up first week sales of 207k. These latest figures are Rihanna’s highest when it comes to opening numbers.

With Rihanna set to score her 12th number one on the Billboard Hot 100, her accomplishment means that she will surpass late legend Whitney Houston‘s 11 #1s (she has already surpassed the iconic Janet Jackson‘s 10). It also means she will now tie with Queen of Pop Madonna‘s 12 #1s (for female artists).

A 13th number one single on the Hot 100 (which will definitely happen at some point) will result in her being second only to Mariah Carey‘s 18 in achieving the most #1 singles on the Hot 100.

No TV performances in her album release week and she actually achieves THIS? THIS?!?!? Slayage.

The mentioning of Whitney and Janet has made me realize how far music has declined. Although 10 and 11 number 1′s are no small feat, it seems like most of today’s “artists” will surpass them with their fluff music… and yes that mean you Katy Perry.

My cd just came today and I am pretty dissapointed with the booklet this time. That’s what usually keeps me buying her physical cds but this one just doesn’t seem to have any real shoots… It’s just random pics. And they don’t even flow like TTT, Loud, or Rated R. But I am impressed with the album which is what really counts.

i agree with u NGB. its such a shame to see LEGENDS being discredited beacause music that you wont even listen to in a years time is considerd main stream, and scoring numbers #1′s. buty you know lets not get distracted here, just because you score a #1 doesnt mean its real music. anyway, congrats to Rihanna, im not a big fan of this album, its not as fresh as her previous efforts. Rated R and Loud should have been #1 albums, oh well.

Here comes the losers raving for rihanna by bashing Beyonce. Let’s not get carried away. Beyonce is far from losing to rihanna. Music is digital and 1 #1 album does not give you credit to compete with Whitney, Mariah, Madonna, Janet, destiny child, cher, britney spears, beyonce…but if it gives her stans bragging rights for someone else accomplishments yay you…just know, she’s winning, you’re not. And the “46 yr old beyonce” will still eat her wig on stage, in the studio, with album sales, and at the bank. How are you?

We won’t argue on the basis of competition. At the end of the day, Rihanna is not in the lane of any of those women listed above. She wouldn’t even condone her fans attempting to pin her against Beyonce. If Rihanna released with a #1 single on the BB charts the same week as beyonce this week she would lose. That’s fact! I am not one to downplay someone’s success, but I am not going to be delusional. Rihanna is winning with single sales. She is losing with album sales 7 against 4 and she still can’t compete.

Congrats to her. but let’s put things into perspective. Back in the day it was MUCH HARDER to get a number one single. In addition to massive radio airplay, artists actually had to have massive physical single sales. This means fans had to actually go to record/music store and pay $1-$5 for the cassette/cd single. In comparison, all you have to do these days is pay $1.29 from the comfort of your home (iTunes) and that’s way easier and convenient, so it’s a lot easier for an artist sell singles. That being said, there really is no comparison. While the numbers are what they are, I really can’t compare her to JANET, WHITNEY, MARIAH, OR MADONNA, because it was way harder for them to do what they did. Good for her, but she is still less talented and a product of the sh!tty state of the music industry these days.

And this is OUR fault because we champion and celebrate lackluster artists and lift the into the stratosphere when they aren’t even truly making an artistic contribution to music. An artist who truly cares about their craft, gets noticeably better with each project.

Go play My Way by Usher, then 8701, then Confessions, and then play his latest album Looking For Myself. Despite the fact that he’s currently chasing trends and making some awful songs to try and stay relevant (when he doesn’t need to do that, but I digress)…his vocal game is VASTLY superior to what he used to be. This shows that he works on his craft. Listen to Beyonce on Dangerously in Love. Listen to her voice NOW on 4. Ridiculous vocal growth. Then on the other hand, look at someone like Chris Brown. He has made NONE of these improvements. Why? He doesn’t truly care about his craft. Rihanna is 7 albums in, and still sounds bad live and still doesn’t perform well on stage. I’ll never, EVER understand stanning for a non talented artist. You STAN for people like Michael Jackson. Stevie Wonder. Whitney. Mariah.

Yet you actually have people that stan for Rihanna and her meaningless tunes, and then they are actually PROUD of it lol. Damn

She the most downloaded artist – she’s also one of the most illegally download artist. If this was back in the day – trust me she would be selling more and has every right to be amognst those 90s acts. Like it or lump it she did it and is a cultural icon.

Thats because its a SICK album and one of my favorites to date. She is real, not acting too tough or slutty, and the songs are just great.
