Watch: Tamar Braxton performs #1 iTunes single ‘Love & War’…

Wait. Is this REALLY happening?!?! Tamar Braxton has officially topped the MAIN US iTunes chart with her new single ‘Love & War’! She performed the emotional ballad live during last night’s episode of ‘Tamar & Vince’…

Such a feat also sees the powerhouse chanteuse knock Bruno Mars‘ ‘Locked Out of Heaven’ from the top spot as well.

We’re so excited about the success of this track, simply because it came from absolutely nowhere!!!! No promotion or radio airplay whatsoever! To say we’re shocked is an understatement! Check out her stunning performance below!

Tamar delivered such a powerful performance that older sister Toni and husband Vince could not hide the awe looks in their facial expressions. The song’s success comes as a huge surprise to detractors that have branded R&B as dead. It will be very interesting to see where exactly the song places on the Billboard Hot 100 next week!

WTF. No doubt that this is a smash, but this is Keyshia’s “Trust & Believe” to a T. I am so confused. I would like to know who recorded what first and why were they made out to be so damn similar. I feel bad for Keyshia though.

I am nervous about the precedent that her success is setting. While its obvious that Tamar is talented, and I love Love & War, I think that now we are gonna have a lot more semi successful R&B acts running to a reality show to act extra ratchet just to get a hit.

While there are plenty of R&B artists with reality shows, my point is they have all just seen one be rewarded for being completely over the top. Smh

Sry but this seems fishy. A striclty rnb record from a “nobody” (musically) and no radio play and it goes to #1?

And WeTv is not a big channel. Im not a hater but this screams like “lets buy it ourselfs” type of situation. IMO Tamar seems like that type of person bc she doesnt want to fail. Just my opinion

  Not true. Vince had his act together. He made a deal with major radio stations to make sure the record was played every hour. They started at 9 and continued to play the record throughout the day. Tamar called in to the stations as well. The song is one of the most added to Urban and R&B formats this week.

  i dont agree but i understand where u’re coming from. although i love her belting notes, im just not impressed with the song. can’t help but think that this song is riding the waves of “trust and believe”. nonetheless, can’t wait to hear more music from her.

The track was at least number 2 on the iTunes main song chart before Gaga’s tween was posted. The song has also been successful in the UK too. The song is that good so it could be word of mouth, people who attended this performance know people in the business as well. Vince has a lot of contacts etc. I doubt it was a buy your own track situation but it is brilliant in that it brings attention to her music.

@Uncleramsey the song was No.2 on Itunes for hours before Gaga even tweeted that link. She had little to no effect on the songs performance.

Congrats to Tamar, but something is a little fishy. Not even Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyoncé or Gaga herself climb to the top of iTunes as fast a she did. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of her singles and album perform.

  Um, that may be a bit inaccurate. Born This Way as well as Diamonds climbed the US iTunes charts within hours of their releases. And, if anything, all of the artists you just named are the only females topping the US iTunes charts the same day they release music. Tamar’s victory is moreso noteworthy because she has way less noteriety than Beyonce, GaGa, etc.

She deserves every bit of this success she is getting. My only gripe, while I am eagerly anticipating her album is she is in Beyonce’s lane with the looks. I am sorry, but I can definitely see she has manufactured her platform in the same lane as Beyonce. This means she will have problems in the coming months when Beyonce comes back out. Someone needs an image revamp, and quite frankly I think it’s Beyonce.

Dead @ this being fresh. It’s a rehash of Keyshia cole’s Trust & believe(same producer). Clearly payola is at work,considering her husband’s connections in the music industry. The way some of you are carrying on, you would have thought she’s hit #1 on billboard hot 100. It’s just itunes, which doesn’t mean the music buying public is going to buy her album.

And I don’t know what’s so suspect about her topping the iTunes chart. Is it surprising? – Yes, but I wouldn’t say she bought her way to the top… First if it was that simple, don’t you all think artists who could afford to buy their way to the top would do just that? Plus something tells me if this was a new pop artist who topped the chart, he/she wouldn’t be met with half the skepticism, but since it’s R&B there’s gotta be foul play involved.

Some of ya’ll made some good points. I didn’t notice the Keyshia comparison at first either, until ya’ll mentioned it. And if it were that easy to just buy a number 1 Itunes spot you KNOW everybody would have been doing it a long time ago. I love her and her music and she deserves all the success she gets, becasue she really is a talented woman.

You can’t buy the voice she has or the range. She sang acappella and it was amazing. I didn’t really care for her at first but once I heard her sing and really watched the show, you can’t deny her talent. Money or not.
