Fantasia slams gay marriage…

Well, isn’t this a nice way to kick off 2013? Fantasia may have committed career suicide after making unfavourable comments about the legalisation of marijuana and same sex marriage. On Instagram, she rants about “the world going mad” and backs up her arguments by sourcing the bible. She then makes a statement about folk going against biblical morals while others stay judging her. She was referencing the high barrage of criticism she received for sleeping with a married man and having a baby with him, while aborting another. Not a smart career move from her given that a large portion of her fanbase is gay. Check out her illiterate rant below.

UPDATE: We knew damage control was underway, as is normally the case whenever a celebrity puts their foot in mouth. The singer now says her comments were taken out of context. Read her new message on Instagram here. My advice? If you can’t articulate a political opinion, just keep it zipped in the future.

God FEARING folk are the strangest….I like her music a lot, but now I kinda think she’s an idiot….I’m gay, and although I may not see marriage as part of my future (still not sure), people should have the right to decide whether they want it for themselves….She may lost the respect of a lot of fans, but she’ll gain respect from others for her ignorance

Well why can’t people accept the fact that being gay is not allowed in any religion, so if you are a real follower of whatever religion, you will share that thought. I don’t get the problem. It is not possible to be religious and acceptive of homosexuality. You can’t be selective in a religion, every book has its rules and if you do not agree with one of them why being religious in the first place? Fantasia is right, I am not a fan of her AT ALL but she makes a good point. People need to come up with a new religion that accepts homosexuality.

  This was the same exact reasoning for keeping slavery, segregation, and making sure interracial marriage was illegal.

Wow, and she was on Rupaul’s drag race as a guest judge, and seemed to have NO problem being there in a room full of queens……………. WTF Fantasia?? You must be ok with it as long as there’s a paycheck attached to it……

They skim over the parts of the bible that inconveniences their own lifestyle, yet condemn others for not following “the word of God”. It’s called being a self-rightieous hypocrite.

  You can still support gays without condoning gay marriage. However, this is why I like my artists (Britney Spears) to stay out of heavy politics and keep ya opinions to yourself. You can obviously have an opinion but alienating your fanbase through a public outlet, like Fantasia just did, isn’t a smart career move.

    It really doesn’t make sense to say you support gay people but don’t support gay marriage. Denying a group of people the same equal rights everyone else enjoys says that that group is lesser than. Joining that movement fundamentally means that you are not supporting gay people. It’s just really hypocritical (and honestly slimy) to attempt to appeal to the gay market when you’re obviously against them.

Love her music and in the industry you do have to keep your
feelings to yourself. People judge others by what they say and speaking your mind in this time in the entertainment industry is just like Toya stated career suicide, simply because people are so narrowed minded and takes things people like her say to heart.

little does she know is that these people (weed smokers and gays) are still judged even more than she is, EVERYDAY. I;m gay and i smoke weed but i feel that this isnt against any of us, its just her giving an example of what the bible says not to do and its being done …legally.

Not shocked….and maybe i’m missing more of her comments bc from at she said in the post it doesn’t read as her really bashing gay marriage as much as she is bashing people for concerning themselves with her decisions when she doesn’t go around dissing people for not living life the way she thinks they should.

Overall I don’t think she hates gays but when your in the public eye clearly you should choose you words wisely, something she’s never been good at. Smh just a mess that could have been easily avoided.
