Oh wow! Grammy Award winning singer Ashanti confesses that in two years she turned down a massive seven record contracts which were offered to her from major labels. Her shocking admission came through a recent Q&A session at Sirius XM.

Ashanti rejected all of those because she was rebelling against the offensive 360 deals in the music industry. Deals, which sees major labels securing their investments by claiming a large stake in endorsements, tours, music sales and vice versa. Deals, which protects the label’s returns when encountering a loss in profits due to illegal downloading and a declining economy.
Ashanti hasn’t had much chart success with her music since going independent with her label ‘Written Entertainment’. The “daunting” prospect of signing with one of those seven majors, does not look so bad after all, given the circumstances. Still, congrats to her for being in the game for an entire decade.
