Watch: Christina Aguilera soars with ‘Blank Page’ at People’s Choice Awards…

Last night saw Christina Aguilera deliver a candlelit performance of her emotional ballad ‘Blank Page’ at The People’s Choice Awards 2013. The big voiced diva looked quite reserved in simple black pants and a white fitted blazer as she allowed her amazing vocals to command the audience at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles. She also snagged a special honour called the ‘People’s Voice’ award to recognise her achievements in the industry.

The performance was very powerful and her vocals remained in control. Her showing also served as promo for her latest album ‘Lotus’, which was very much needed due to the snail-trailing pace it is selling. Check out her stunning performance below.

Were we watching the same performance? Those vocals were not amazing. When she “belts” she always sounds like shes got a mouthful of waffles and maple syrup : Beginning was very shaky, the belting completely lacked resonance and the tonal quality wasnt great. Id give this performance a C-

I couldn’t watch beyond 1:29…. I promise no hate just honesty when I say her warbling and trying to keep composed is ANYTHING but a Blank Page. I think if she hasn’t realised it before, she needs to LEARN what taking too long a hiatus can do. Skip an era – sure. Skip two – you may find they replaced you.

Harsh perhaps but how many “Christina” vocalists as well as many attempts at Mariah’s etc. Her various-themed albums have been interesting but now people aren’t here for it so clutching at straws with BRITNEY’s Max Martin and now RiHANNA’s Sia – two many elements to compete with.

I’m sure the album version is great. The performance – slayage? No.

It’s sad that the album is struggling with sales because Lotus is actually pretty solid…
