Though the song isn’t *bad* I think the initial success of Suit & Tie is more from just public curiosity than people actually enjoying it

I wonder why black artist get judged harsher by black blogs than JT. No way can this song save R&B. This song is a rambling mess and sounds like two songs stuffed together. R&B is at such a low point that people think JT will save it. JT at best does watered down R&B. Lets give props to Frank Ocean and Miguel for their music and lets pray Usher sees the R&B light.

Interesting that you brought up Nelly Furtado since at one point they were the biggest male and female popstar in the world… my how times have changed.

Well for one, NF doesn’t have the same high profile as JT — he was always around in the public eye with TV, film and personal life. Loose sold 10 mils worldwide, but ‘only’ 2 mils in North America, even back then she was still overshadowed by Fergie (in the US). And obviously, her label and management mistreated her with the promo (or lack thereof). ‘Parking Lot’ was the obvious “hit single” from the album, but they never really promoted it, did they, except during the album release week.

NF’s biggest market has always been Europe, I think if they’d really gone for it, it would be huge there… esp in the UK. But alas, I don’t know what happened to it all. Such a shame.

As for JT, this is a solid track, but meh… I never really care for him. Despite some great tunes, I find him generally annoying and rather pretentious. So there.

I already called it when I said Justin Timberlake as a white male who young teens prey on would have no problem making a comeback. Women will buy and support him because they think he’s “cute” and the same manner they support Justin Beiber and One Direction.
