Grammy Awards 2013: Red Carpet ‘HIT’ & ‘MISSES’…

Award season isn’t just about extravagant performances and big wins. It’s all about the red carpet and checking out who slayed the most with their outfits! And the one chick to blow me away was Kelly Rowland! Chick tugged at my heartstrings in a pretty Georges Chakra gown that had very revealing sheer paneling. Some of today’s leading ladies in music were reportedly warned against “exposing bare flesh” at the Grammys, but most decided to ignore the new outfit rules. Kelly was clearly one of them, as was Jennifer Lopez who is no stranger to baring the flesh in dangerously daring dresses.

Worst dressed?

Jennifer Lopez gets my vote. She wore a black Anthony Vaccarello gown, which exposed her entire thigh. I absolutely loved her revealing Versace gown in 2000, because although it was ridiculously revealing, it had style and attitude. This latest dress was just plain ugly.

Most mediocre?

I was really excited about seeing Beyonce‘s outfit because she usually blows me away but not this time. I thought that her black and white Osman black crepe jumpsuit with white panel detailing was basic. She paired it up with a Swarovski clutch, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Beyonce was looking like ‘I am just here for my husband’ so she gets the mediocre award.

Best dress- Kelly Rowland (although Rihanna was looking good too)

Worst- Estelle..

I adore Beyonce’s jumpsuit! I think it was the perfect take on what the Grammys has become….( saying nothing more) Kelly Rowland had the best dress of the evening followed by Rihanna. But, I really found no one to be impeccably dressed. I think Kelly could have pulled a Beyonce number and saved her money and gown for another occasion. Rihanna was appropriate, as she was nominated. Adele was the worst dressed star of the night, followed closely by the ill fitting dress Jennifer wore. I also think Kimbra had one of the worse looks of the night.

I think the biggest miss in general was Beyonce not seizing this opportunity to debut her new song. What the hell is going on this era??? Who initiates an era without ANYTHING new and even announces a tour? I was really routing for her this era (mainly because people are finally turning their backs on her) but now I am just unconcerned.

  you say this and then say “checking for Ciara’s new album…” WHO is checking for that? Ciara isn’t even checking for it. Beyonce released both first singles from the “I Am..” era with an event platform to debut them. I’m sure she knows what she’s doing. Just because she hasn’t taken the typical artist route of promotion doesn’t mean she does not have a promotion plan.

    First off, I was joking about the Ciara comment. I was just showing how much I am no longer checking for Beyonce. Also, Beyonce first performed Single Ladies at a concert at a radio station in New York. Both the Superbowl and the Grammy’s GREATLY beat that (check the itunes positions of the performers/winners). Also, it’s pretty fucked up that she is teasing her fans so exponentially. Andre 300 is the best example of an artist who does not mislead his following.
