Elle Varner has been making some moves on the R&B charts lately, and she’s expected to do so once again with a brand new visual! Elle releases a behind the scenes look at her forthcoming music video for ‘I Don’t Care’, lifted from her top five debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’. According to an interview with Kempire, Elle tackles interracial, as well as homosexual dating in the clip, as she goes all out to express “unconventional” types of love. Elle Varner’s debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 selling over 33K copies. Such a feat means that the talented newcomer achieved the second highest opening sales of any release in the States this week. How’s that for exceeding sales expectations?
Elle was beaten by ‘Now 43′, after it sold 111K copies and making it the 16th #1 from the ‘Now That’s What I Call Music!’ series. Congrats to Elle. I hope this means RCA will actually promote her album properly now. Good music deserves support. Check out this week’s chart in full below.
Elle Varner is predicted to sell between 25k-30k units of her debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ next week. Such a feat is good enough to land her a respectable #3 billing on the Billboard 200. While some people may shrug that off as not a big deal, I think this is very commendable for a newcomer doing straight R&B (a genre that has declined considerably) and selling that much with no TV performances. At least none that I know of anyway.
Established artists like Ciara debuted with 35k with her last album (no shade, just saying), so can you imagine what Elle would have sold if she had a full scale promo campaign backed behind her? I’m very happy for Elle and I hope RCA are looking at this as a testament that she does in deed have some potential selling power. I also hope it will encourage them to get behind her so that she can reach her full abilities as a successful artist.
Rising R&B star Elle Varner released her debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ this week and she’s been on the promo crunch trying to get the record heard.
Elle recently performed a live showcase at the Highline Ballroom, which included a husky-toned rendition of Brandy‘s classic hit, ‘I Wanna Be Down’. She discusses her musical journey on ‘The Breakfast Club’ and then looks back on where it all began during an appearance on BET’s ’106 & Park’. All in a mega-packed promotional week for Ms Varner.
Elle Varner unmasks the official tracklist for her hotly anticipated debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’. The project will consists of 11 songs and one guest feature. ‘Perfectly Imperfect’ is preceded by all three singles, the J. Cole-assisted ‘Only Wanna Give It to You’, ‘Refill’ and ‘I Don’t Care’. Elle Varner debuts ‘I Don’t Care’, the third single from her hotly anticipated debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’. The instrumentation to the Pop & Oak-produced cut consists of an oldschool Hip Hop beat that takes you back to the 90s. Its lyrics deliver messages of deep attraction, losing yourself to love and not giving a crap who knows! The track samples AZ‘s ‘Ho Happy Jackie’ and to say it’s a musical beast is quite the understatement!
Los Angeles native Elle Varner first hit the scene last summer with her debut single, the J. Cole-assisted ‘Only Wanna Give It to You’. The 23-year-old’s first musical venture was a mixtape titled ‘Conversational Lush’, which she released earlier this year. The mixtape features second single, ‘Refill’, which will also be featured on her debut album ‘Perfectly Imperfect’. The LP will be out on August 7th, 2012 courtesy of RCA Records. Finally, a talented artist catering to real R&B!
