Rihanna reunited with her mentor Jay-Z last night at Radio 1′s Hackney Weekend. The pair opened Jay-Z’s smashing headlining set with ‘Run This Town’. Jay-Z may have the face of somebody’s Grandpa (well, my mum was HIS age when she became a Grandmother), and he may still dress like he’s still 20, but he showed the entire world just why he is thee legendary rapper. Jiggaman did his thang with levels of swag through the roof. Rihanna’s vocals have improved but she still cant hit all the right notes. Granted, it was not her best vocal but she looked hot and pulled it off.
Rapper M.I.A comes on and her mic screws up a bit, but she still delivered a blast and boy, wasn’t Beyonce enjoying it? Then Kanye West shows up, and they do the ‘Watch The Throne’ tour set essentially for free. Concertgoers that paid must be pissed, but Beyonce stanning for her man was really cute to me. She was wilding out, and even participated in a mosh pit at the end!
Updated with the full set of Jay-Z & Kanye’s ‘Watch The Throne’.

Teyana Taylor has officially signed a deal with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label, which also serves as a joint partnership with Island Def Jam.

Music’s heavyweights flocked to the 2012 Met Ball, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC last night. Beyonce stepped out in a Givenchy Haute Couture Sequinned gown.

Kanye West, in headlines for his pants-dropping, media whoring, removes himself long enough to work on Justin Bieber‘s new album ‘Believe’ this weekend.

With the help of Kanye West, Cassie’s new single ‘King Of Hearts’ recieved an extra reworking needed to make it a certified hit.
Earlier this year in London, Kanye’s short stint as DJ Yeezy World Peace, saw him spin the record on his turntables so it was evident he was feeling the track from day one. It comes as no surprise that he’s put his own spin on the record. There’s no new verse from him, but he does add more clappier sounds, buzzier synths, and a harder knock with the tribal elements. The subtlety of Cassie’s voice with the progressive beat bodes really well and although it’s not anything spectacular, the remix itself is not a bad effort from him at all. Although the track was digitally made available in February, it was only serviced to US Rhythmic radio two weeks ago and Cassie has been tweeting quite a lot about rehearsals (rumour has it, and I put major emphasis on the word *RUMOUR* is that she will perform the song on ‘American Idol’).
It’s too early to count the song out as a flop just yet but promotion hasn’t been that strong to be honest. Hopefully, more is being done to help the song implode into the hit that it rightfully deserves.
2011 was a very exciting year for music! Pop’s royal trinity each released their long awaited albums in the first half of the year, a UK soul singer took over the world with her self written achy-breaky love ballads, REAL hip-hop found a place on radio, and a certain red-wigged Barbadian siren released her sixth album in six years!

If there was ever a more befitting song for T.I. to make his official comeback on, I can’t think of one better than Jay Z & Kanye‘s “Niggas In Paris”, from ‘Watch the Throne’. T.I.’s hot verse serves as a reminder of his return from back to back incarcerations and the readying of a new album. As for the remix…that shit cray!
“Niggas In Paris” is arguably the dopest rap track to drop this year. Listen to the remix appropriately featuring the King of the South after the jump.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE [...] Listen to Ne-Yo “play rapper” over-top ‘Otis’‘s unique production, delivering an awkward freestyle of awkward rhymes with an awkward flow. The overall result? Awkward.
There really isn’t anymore to say as there isn’t anything redeemable about Ne-Yo’s ‘Otis’. Lets hope this bad idea mixtape comes and goes as fast as ‘Libra Scale’ so Ne-Yo can get back to creating that easy listening r&b he excels at so well. It’s quite apparent Mr. Smith is in much need of some organic inspiration. Listen and sound off below.
