Video Premiere: Marsha Ambrosius – ‘Cold War’…

Marsha Ambrosius drops the cinematic visuals for ‘Cold War’, the first single off her sophomore album ‘Friends & Lovers’. In the visual, the singer finds herself trying to cling desperately to her luxurious lifestyle after her fiancé (The Wire’s Michael Kenneth Williams) loses his job. Taking the easy way out, she gets involved in drug dealing (her partner in crime is played by The Wire’s Felicia ‘Snoop’ Pearson), only to be ambushed by a pair of cops.

The visual really touches upon real life situations and shows just how far some of us will go to hold on to the good stuff. Drugs however, is never the answer. Check out the dialogue-driven visual below!

Video Premiere: Marsha Ambrosius – ‘F*ck N Get It Over With’…

The grossly underrated Marsha Ambrosius is back with a brand new music video for her new single, ‘F*ck N Get It Over With’. The sensual R&B cut is lifted from her forthcoming new album ‘Friends & Lovers’, which serves as the follow-up to her award winning solo debut ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’. Directed by Erica D. Hayes and J. Erving, the video finds the R&B songstress lamenting on a doomed relationship before hitting the open road to have angry sex with her lover one last time.

Sang it girl.

Marsha Ambrosius put her trademark vibrato to good use by showing us just how much she can tease the hell out of a soulful snippet! A few days ago, she announced her upcoming second album ‘Friends & Lovers’. And now she has debuted the title track at this weekend’s Essence Music Festival. The sentimental number deals with issues of dishonesty in a relationship, and Ambrosius even (jokingly) goads her audience by stating that they will need to buy the album if they want to find out how the story concludes.

To be honest, not really. But Marsha gets my full support anyway because real talent is deserving, and that track sounds fantastic. ‘Friends & Lovers’ will serve as the follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut, ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’, which was released last year. Watch Ms. Ambrosius perform ‘Friends & Lovers’ after the jump.

SoulCulture TV caught up with internationally renowned UK songstress Marsha Ambrosius on the red carpet at this year’s BET Awards in LA. The singer spilled some deets on her second solo album, confirming that ‘Friends & Lovers’ is complete and that we’ll hear it “soon”. Marsha is clearly ready to embrace you with more of those lilting soprano melodies and serious vibrato. The new album serves as the follow-up to 2010′s critically acclaimed ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’, which to date has sold just over 400K copies in the US. It entered at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart and #2 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. The project also snagged her a BET Award nomination for Best Female R&B Artist.

I have no hate for Beyonce because I thoroughly enjoyed ’4′. It wasn’t my favourite album from her (‘B’Day’ wins on that front), but let’s be real here. Marsha clearly had the best R&B album of 2011. She says that “losing to Beyonce was phenomenal”, but there’s nothing phenomenal about losing  if your album missed out due to popularity. Beyonce wins everything, and it would have been nice if somebody else was fairly given a chance for a change.

Marsha Ambrosius premieres ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ video…

I have major respect for Marsha Ambrosius because she uses her art to put across powerful messages to the masses. Her previous music video for ‘Far Away’ tackled bullying, homosexuality and suicide. This new one for her latest single ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ conveys the importance of safe sex, as well as raises awareness to the HIV epidemic.

I think it’s such a breath of fresh air for artists to take on important social isues which affects us all. No glove, no love. Check out the inspiring J. Erving-directed music video below.
