The coolest Knowles sister just dropped a mini-video for her sweet tune ‘Locked In Closets’, off her EP ‘True’. Directed by Alan Del Rio Oritz, the colourful visuals cast Solange as an everyday girl finding her way through a rollercoaster journey, while crusading through life at 26.
Fashion fanatics got their life last night when the annual Met Gala came to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The soiree’s theme? Punk couture! Solange partners with clothes store Opening Ceremony to exclusively distribute the physical edition of her ‘True’ EP.
Solo dropped the project digitally last November and the physical edition drops on March 11th through Opening Ceremony’s website. Fans can also purchase it online from the same site. The boutique store also provided the clothes for the shoot, which was snapped by New York artist Mickalene Thomas. Solange brings the fierce, the cool, and the swag to the very contrasting artwork. Under normal circumstances, this would actually be a hot bumbling mess. But given that it’s Solange, she really does bring the cool to it.
Solange appeared to be doing 60s retro in a polka dot skirt suit from Moschino’s Pre-Fall 2013 collection. It was paired with her favourite Saucy Leather T-Strap Pumps by Elizabeth/James. Backed by a full-band, the 26-year-old was serving further promo for critically acclaimed EP ‘True’, while giving viewers some slick dance moves to boot. She’s such an eclectic hipster, sometimes you forget that her sister is Beyoncé!
Check out some footage from Beyonce‘s ‘Life Is But A Dream’ after party at Christie’s. The singer and her sister Solange danced it up to DJ Jubilee‘s classic New Orleans Bounce track ‘Get It Ready’ last night. Solange did her bit of DJing behind the turntables as Bey let her hair down and grooved it up! Those two are quite the class act, and Beyonce looks like such a fun person to party with!
Gracing the latest cover of FADER magazine is Solange Knowles. In the mag, she discusses switching up her sound, as well as her latest EP, ‘True’ and more. The article looks at comparisons between the singer and Janet Jackson as both had to carve out their own musical path outside of their older siblings’ shadows. ‘True’ is a really nice record but it won’t do what ‘Control’ did for Janet. Still, I certainly respect this chick for being her own artist. Enclosed below is the entire spread and a behind the scenes video from the shoot. You can also read the full interview here.
The latest episode of ‘Black Cab Sessions’ sees 26-year old Solange performing ‘Bad Girls’, the closing track off her latest EP ‘True’. Among those that attended Roc Nation’s annual pre-Grammy brunch at Soho House last night were Beyoncé, her husband Jay-Z and sister Solange. Bey looked absolutely stunning in a printed, plunging neckline Elie Saab dress from the designer’s Spring-Summer 2013 Ready to Wear collection, paired with Louis Vuitton shoes. She kept her make-up light and rocked loose curls. This dress suits Beyonce’s body shape immaculately!
Grammy week kicks off with the 4th Annual Essence ‘Black Women in Music’ event which took place last night in West Hollywood. Solange was honoured at Greystone Manor Supperclub where she entertained guests with music from her ‘True’ EP.
