The original Sugababes line-up are almost back! MKS known as Mutya, Keisha & Siobhan, have given us a first preview of their new music since reuniting last year. In some new footage, the girls perform an acapella of a new song ‘Boys’, while showing off their solid harmonies!

Mutya Keisha Siobhan confirm new music before the end of the year…

The original Sugababes, Mutya Keisha Siobhan have given us an exciting update about their musical comeback. Today, they have announced that we should hear a new single from them before the end of the year, and this news was complemented with the below photo, showing them toasting on the very day they signed their record deal with Polydor.

Yes! Looking like they stepped right off the shores of 1998, we’re loving it! Hopefully, they come out with something that is in your face, radio friendly and catchy. Something that will show us they are back and why they should never have disbanded in the first place. I wonder if Amelle, Heidi and Jade actually have plans to record new music again. I think they’ve split but to save face, they just don’t want to make it official.

Original Sugababes officially confirm their reunion…

The original SugababesMutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy have officially announced their reunion. They will now perform under the name ‘Mutya Keisha Siobhan’, which I thought was a joke at first. In my honest opinion, MKS would have been better but at least they’re back! The girl’s comeback album will reportedly feature production from Naughty Boy, Emeli Sande, MNEK, Asterix, Craze & Hoax and more.

Original Sugababes reportedly sign £1million record deal…

As you’ve probably already heard by now, the original Sugababes reunited last year and have been in the studio recording a comeback album.

According to reports today, Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhan Donaghy, who hooked up in 1998, have signed a £1 million recording contract with Polydor Records, home to Lady Gaga, Cheryl Cole and more. The label are said to have selected hit-worthy songs for the project in order to get them back to where they once were – the top. They’ve enlisted top UK hitmakers such as Xenomania, MNEK, Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy and their old producer Cameron McVey, for the project. Interesting. They could either come back and not add much to the table or, they could shut the naysayers up and have one of the most explosive comebacks of all time from a girl group. I was actually looking forward to hearing Keisha’s solo stuff which she began promoting this time last year, but I totally welcome this reunion as well.

With legal reasons preventing them from using their original name (that really sucks), I wonder what they will call themselves now? Only time will tell how this pans out in the long run. Good luck to them.

Revenge: The original Sugababes officially get back together…

Original Sugababe members Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena have confirmed the group are back together following a series of tweets (1, 2). Reports about the reunion surfaced last October (1, 2) but nothing was ever officially set in stone.

Now the pair have reunited with original bandmate Siobhán Donaghy, and the trio have been holed up in the studio for months recording a brand new album.

The Sugababes scrap plans to release a new album…

Heidi Range reveals that the Sugababes are NOT splitting up, despite them having “nothing planned”. Quote? “We were just in a period where we weren’t busy anyway. We were doing our own thing. We haven’t split up, no”. Because not having “nothing planned” totally clears up all speculation that the band are on the verge of a split. She did not even try to disguise her lack of enthusiasm about the band’s (very ailing) future. Fans get nothing. No such reassurance. No “we’re still recording the album”, no “our single will be out in a few months”. Absolutely sodding nothing.

The Sugababes forced to axe lead single & give it away for free…

It’s official. The Sugababes are hanging onto their record deal… by a thread. The newest Sugababe recruit Jade Ewen was rumoured to have left the group, which she then denied on twitter earlier this morning. Their Nokia-sponsored lead single ‘Freedom’ has been pulled from all the popular pre-order outlets such as iTunes, Play.com, and Amazon. The joke? The track is now being given away for free on Amazon as a “thank you to their fans”. The single was axed due to poor pre-determined projections (it showed the song would place outside of the UK top 20). Not to mention that it has recieved zero airplay on the radio. To round this off, they practically pulled the plug on their own single to save face and further embarrassment.

The group has greatly suffered ever since founding and only original member Keisha Buchanan was ousted from the group in 2009. Since her sacking, they have had chart bomb after chart bomb. With no original member left in existence, people have said it fair and square that this group can no longer call themselves the Sugababes. Their last album ‘Sweet 7′ sold less than 30K since its release two years ago and music consumers continue not to show any leniency towards the struggling girl group. Ewen may have denied walking away but at this rate, she may very well have done. I kind of feel bad for her because her solo career wasn’t really taking off and she thought that joining an already established girl group would have propelled her to greater heights. Sadly, that has not been the case and she was badly scorned for “taking” Keisha’s place. In her defense, she took what looked like a golden opportunity and went for it. Wouldn’t you? As for Ms Buchanan, revenge (or karma we must say) is best served cold eh? The girls, who signed a new deal with RCA, are preparing to put out their second single but if this one tanks, it’s over.

The Sugababes parody their multiple line-up changes on ‘Fabulous’ cover…

The never ending Sugababes line-up has been a joke from day one. So, it’s very ironic to see Jade Ewen, Amelle Berrabah, and Heidi Range poke fun at themselves in the latest issue of Fabulous magazine. With not one original member left in sight, it’s been asked many a time whether these chicks have the right to call themselves the Sugababes.

Personally, I feel they should have had the name revoked. Quite simply, just as the cover implies, they are exactly that – clones of the original group. Replacing one mannequin’s body with another truly does show that every girl in that group is easily dispensable. The sad thing is, with every replacement, the quality of their music has deteriorated. SMH.

Watch: The Sugababes perform ‘Freedom’ at Super Saturday…

UK girl group the Sugababes gave an acoustic performance of their new single ‘Freedom’ at Super Saturday earlier today. The performance showed off their ability to deliver a decent live vocal and the atmosphere was buzzing.

Jade sure knows how to go completely overboard with the adlibs. A powerhouse she may be, but sometimes it can be a tad bit annoying. That said, this was one of their better performances and the audience was enjoying what was being served up. Check out the performance below.
